If you are a Mitthead and/or a Mormon/Christian, you might find this interesting. Just a few hours after Romney suspended his campaign and I was feeling pretty bummed, I picked up a copy of “Daily Reflections on the Book of Mormon” and randomly turned to Feb. 7 (the book has a scripture for every day of the year). The scripture was 1 Nephi 13:12, where Nephi has a vision in which he sees America as the Promised Land. Then, there was a quote from Ezra Taft Benson, who was the president of the church when I was a kid.
“The destiny of America is divinely decreed. The events which established our great nation were foreknown to God and revealed to prophets of old. As in an enacted drama, the players who came on the scene were rehearsed and selected for their parts. Their talents, abilities, capacities, and weaknesses were known before they were born. As one looks back upon what we call our history, there is a telling theme which recurs again and again in this drama. It is that God governs in the affairs of this nation.” – President Benson (emphasis added by me)
So if any of you are worried about the upcoming elections, just remember what the prophets have said. God governs in the affairs of this nation, and the entire world, for that matter.
“We have nothing to fear. God is at the helm. He will overrule for the good of this work. He will shower down blessings upon those who walk in obedience to His commandments.” – Gordon B. Hinckley
