Yesterday’s thunderstorms produced a cloudy, cooler albeit humid morning. We ran around the elementary school playground until Megan started complaining. I was annoyed with her although I later found out why she was being so wimpy.
During Logan’s nap the big kids watched Jumanji for the first time. Around three we started our road trip to pick up both grandmothers and drive to Batesburg-Leesville, home of the famous Shealy’s BBQ. Just before we left the house Megan said she felt achy and Ben said his “neck hurt on the inside.” I gave them both a dose of Motrin and they perked up in no time.
After stuffing ourselves with all things Southern, we had a few hours to kill before the fireworks at Lake Murray, so we played at the park. The kids loved spotting fireflies.
The fireworks were fun, and we had a good view even if we were a bit far away. No one fell in the lake, which was a relief, but by the time we left Megan and Ben were burning up with fever. We got home around 10:30 and within minutes I had given them both Tylenol and lukewarm baths and snuggled them in the bed they’ve been sharing. Apparently this bug is going to make the rounds.
